“The March Hare will be much the most interesting, and perhaps as this is May it won’t be raving mad – at least not so mad as it was in March.” – Alice in Wonderland
On Saturday, whilst wandering around Maboneng, K and I decided to check out a new place called The March Hare. Located in the basement of MOAD (Museum of African Design), this cafe and bar has a very interesting decor and the dark interior exudes a feeling of the underground!
Dark black walls with chalk scribbles, books hanging on the wall, old lamps and bird cages in the corners, tables made from old wooden doors, chairs in the shape of human faces and an entire bar lined with books – the March Hare does make you feel as if you’ve tumbled down a hole!

Different from the regular coffee shops, the March Hare not only offers the usual range of coffees to drink but also hosts a variety of coffee workshops for coffee lovers and coffee obsessed. Besides this, bar courses are also offered. At the March Hare, both coffee and cocktails come HIGHLY recommended!
Once you’ve been down this rabbit, you will want to return again and again.
